Over three million years ago the planet Earth became infected.

The infection mutated and adapted, taking a long time to fully evolve, but it has finally won. The Earth is almost dead. Only the last, largest infestations feed on what remains of the rotting planet. Nothing natural has survived it and soon, its predatory instinct may finally see it devour itself.

The cities it has constructed, the gargantuan, interconnected skyscrapers it lives in, the technology it relies upon and the weapons it has used to destroy its host, may finally consume it.

Slater, an ex-NIC agent, used to be part of this malignancy but now he's on the run. Rin has spent her life evading counter insurgency forces. Her personality disorder and blunted manner made her very efficient at it. Their resistance to the oppressive despotic government has them both branded as terrorists.

Now in the dark, dank, dregs of the lowest recesses of Kansai city, there is a new poison. Forced together by desperation, then held there by sheer necessity, Slater and Rin are the first to glimpse a new malign future and the holocaust it promises.

Despite being outcasts, the pressure to keep at least some of their destructive species alive becomes hard to avoid.
